What you can write

The Assistant comes with pre-built templates for the most common job search writing tasks:

Resume Upload Issues

Having trouble uploading your resume? Here's how to fix the most common problems.

"My resume won't upload"

Check the file format:

Only PDF and Word (.docx) files are supported
.doc (old Word format) is not supported — save as .docx first
Images (.jpg, .png) are not supported — you need a text-based file

Check the file size:

Maximum size is 10MB (most resumes are well under 1MB)

Try a fresh export:

In Word: File → Save As → PDF
In Google Docs: File → Download → PDF Document

"My resume parsed incorrectly"

If the text extracted from your resume looks garbled or is missing sections:

Make sure your PDF has selectable text (open it, try to highlight text — if you can't, it's a scanned image)
Avoid PDFs with complex layouts: multiple columns, text boxes, or heavy graphics
A simple single-column format always parses best

Best practice: Use a clean, simple resume format when uploading. You can always customize the design with Pronto's template system after parsing.

"My file is a scanned image"

Scanned resumes (photos of paper) cannot be parsed. You'll need to:

Re-create your resume in Word or Google Docs
Export as PDF
Upload the new version

Managing Your Account

You can update your account details and preferences from the Settings page.

Accessing Settings

Click your avatar or name in the top-right corner of the dashboard and select Settings, or navigate directly to the Settings page from the sidebar.

What you can manage

Profile — Update your name and display preferences
Email — Change your email address
Password — Update your password (or set one if you signed up with Google)
Billing — View your current plan, manage your subscription, and update payment details
Voice Profiles — Create, edit, and delete your writing style profiles
Notifications — (if applicable) Manage email preferences

Changing your email

If you signed up with email/password:

Go to Settings
Find the Email field
Enter your new email and confirm the change

If you signed up with Google, your email is tied to your Google account and managed there.

Changing your password

Go to Settings
Find the Password section
Enter your current password and your new password
Confirm the change

If you signed up with Google and don't have a password, you can set one in Settings.

Resume Templates, Fonts, and Colors

Pronto lets you customize the design of your resume — template layout, typeface, and accent color — all from one place.

Accessing customization options

After your resume is optimized, look for the toolbar above the resume panel and click the Customize button (marked BETA). This opens a panel with three options:

Template — choose a different resume layout
Font — pick an ATS-friendly typeface
Color — choose an accent color for headers and dividers

Your resume updates live as you make changes.

Templates

Templates range from minimal to structured, all designed to:

Pass ATS systems cleanly (no tables or text boxes that confuse parsers)
Look professional to human reviewers
Work for a wide range of industries

Note: Template selection is a Pro feature. Free users see the default template only.

When you select a template, your content carries over automatically — nothing is lost.

Fonts

All available fonts are chosen for readability and ATS compatibility. You won't find flashy display fonts here — just clean, professional typefaces that print well.

Colors

Pick an accent color for your resume headers. Choose something neutral for conservative industries, or something bolder for creative roles.

ATS compatibility

All Pronto templates are built to be ATS-safe:

How to write cold outreach in Pronto

Go to Assistant in the sidebar
Select the Cold Outreach template
Fill in the details: who you're reaching out to, what company, what you want
Click Generate
Edit and personalize before sending

What makes cold outreach work

The formula:

Open with something genuine (a shared connection, their work, a specific article they wrote)
Briefly establish who you are and why you're relevant
State what you're asking for — be specific and make it easy to say yes
Keep it under 100 words

What Pronto generates:

A personalized opening that doesn't sound like a template
A clear value proposition for why you're reaching out
A low-friction ask (coffee chat, 15 minutes, intro)
