How to Optimize Your Resume
Resume optimization tailors your resume to a specific job description, improving your chances of getting past ATS filters and impressing recruiters.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- Your resume uploaded (PDF or .docx)
- The full job description for the role you're applying to
How to optimize
- Go to the Cover Letter page from the sidebar, or click Start from Job from the Dashboard
- Upload your resume if you haven't already, or use your saved resume
- Paste the job description into the text box — or paste the job URL directly and Pronto will auto-fetch it
- Click Optimize
- Wait 15–30 seconds while Pronto analyzes both documents
What happens during optimization
Pronto reads your resume and the job description, then:
- Rewrites bullet points to emphasize the most relevant accomplishments
- Adds missing keywords the ATS is likely scanning for
- Adjusts language to match the seniority and tone of the role
- Removes low-relevance content that doesn't serve this application
- Calculates a match score showing how well your new resume fits the role
After optimization
Your results are shown in a three-panel view:
- Left/top — your match score and key insights about how well your resume fits the role
- Center — your optimized resume, ready to review and edit
- Right (desktop) — a suggestions panel with specific AI-recommended changes you can accept or dismiss one by one
When you're happy with the result, click Download Resume PDF to apply.
