Optimization Is Taking Too Long

Resume optimization normally completes in 15–30 seconds. If it's been longer than a minute, here's what to do.

Normal timing

  • Typical: 15–30 seconds
  • Busy times: Up to 60 seconds
  • Anything over 90 seconds: Something's probably wrong

What to try

1. Wait a moment longer

Peak usage times (weekday mornings, Sunday evenings) can cause brief slowdowns. Give it up to 90 seconds before troubleshooting.

2. Check your internet connection

A slow or interrupted connection can stall the request. Try:

  • Refreshing your internet connection
  • Switching from WiFi to cellular (or vice versa)

3. Refresh and try again

If the optimization is stuck:

  1. Refresh the page (Cmd+R / Ctrl+R)
  2. Your resume and job description should still be there
  3. Click Optimize again

4. Try a shorter job description

Very long job descriptions (4,000+ words) can slow processing. Try trimming it to the most relevant sections (responsibilities, requirements) before optimizing.

5. Clear browser cache

Sometimes cached data causes issues:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data
  • Safari: Develop → Empty Caches (or Cmd+Opt+E)
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy → Clear Data

If it keeps happening

Open the chat and let us know:

  • What browser and device you're using
  • Approximately when the issue occurred
  • Whether it happens consistently or only sometimes

We can check the logs on our end and get it resolved.
