Writing Cold Outreach Messages
Cold outreach — reaching out to someone at a company you haven't interviewed with yet — is one of the best ways to create opportunities that never get posted. Pronto helps you write messages that actually get replies.
How to write cold outreach in Pronto
- Go to Assistant in the sidebar
- Select the Cold Outreach template
- Fill in the details: who you're reaching out to, what company, what you want
- Click Generate
- Edit and personalize before sending
What makes cold outreach work
The formula:
- Open with something genuine (a shared connection, their work, a specific article they wrote)
- Briefly establish who you are and why you're relevant
- State what you're asking for — be specific and make it easy to say yes
- Keep it under 100 words
What Pronto generates:
- A personalized opening that doesn't sound like a template
- A clear value proposition for why you're reaching out
- A low-friction ask (coffee chat, 15 minutes, intro)
Example prompt
"Write a cold LinkedIn message to Marcus, Head of Growth at Notion. I'm a growth marketer with 5 years in B2B SaaS. I want to ask about potential roles on his team or get his advice on transitioning to PLG-focused growth roles."
Platform-specific tips
- LinkedIn: Keep it under 300 characters if using connection requests with notes, or use InMail for longer messages
- Email: Slightly more room, but still aim for brevity
- Twitter/X: Very short — 1–2 punchy sentences with a soft ask
Realistic expectations
Response rates for cold outreach are typically 5–15%. Don't be discouraged by silence — even a low response rate opens meaningful doors.
